My Pals are Here! Maths 3B Practice Book Part 1

Pages 15-23

Students should do a little math homework every night according to the following schedule:

Due on
Tuesday: pgs. 15-17
Thursday: pgs. 18-20
Friday: pgs. 21-23

Students have a lot of pages to complete this week, but the workload should be similar to other weeks. 

I will check each day to see that they have completed the correct pages, and mark late if they are not finished, or if they don't have their book.

Homework is due Friday, February 17

Multiplication Flashcards

A few students are already proficient at their multiplication facts, but most need a lot of improvement in order to be able to complete assignments and exams quickly and correctly.  The students MUST have a set of flash cards covering facts from 2x2 up to 12x12 and they must practice a little bit every night.  As we move from multiplication into division, a solid knowledge of multiplication will help to make division easier.

In particular, Lisa and Kevin need to buy or make flashcards and begin to practice every night.  Rahula and Gary need to use their flashcards and keep practicing, and Bryan also needs to keep his skills up.

Exam Preparation

The students have been working hard to prepare for their exam.  I sent home a packet of practice problems with addition and subtraction word problems for them to study over the weekend.  This is not homework, but it will help them to practice and better understand the kinds of problems that will appear on the exam.  Please ask to see the packet and check to see that they're completing the models and problems correctly.

Exam 1

Exam 1 for English Math will be on Friday, October 14, 2011.

Students should study units 1-3 in their textbook, as well as the homework from those units.  They should look in their green notebooks for class notes about math vocabulary, and the format of the test.
